Building Bridges across the Nations by Rich Miller
Jesus’ “Great Commission” to His disciples – both first century and twenty-first century – is to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). It is thrilling when the Lord clearly opens up a door to play a part in that great kingdom plan!
From December 28 through January 1st, I had the opportunity to minister at the “Bridges International” conference in Houston, Texas. “Bridges International” is Campus Crusade for Christ’s ministry to Chinese university students studying here in the United States. There were over 200 students in attendance at the conference, at least half of whom had not yet come to a personal relationship with God through Christ.

I preached the gospel and taught on our new life in Christ to the entire group on the morning of December 30. This was truly a highlight for me as the response was very encouraging both from the students and Campus Crusade staff who were in attendance.
This was the first time I’ve had the chance to preach the gospel of salvation and freedom since my surgery. The Lord was so gracious to grant His anointing on the message. There was great liberty and energy to preach and to know that over 100 non-Christian students were again clearly confronted with the good news of Christ is very satisfying. I was also glad that they could speak English fairly well, since my Mandarin was definitely rusty!
This ministry to Chinese university students is tremendously strategic. Many will be returning to their country and will serve as leaders in education, government, the medical profession and business. Two of the conferees that I spoke with after my message were studying for their doctorates in psychology. Both were very excited about the message of freedom!

This ministry opportunity was not limited to non-Christians as over one hundred Chinese believers heard the message as well. Along with the plenary session, I was able to minister three times in a seminar setting and spoke twice to the “Bridges International” staff as well. In addition, there were numerous times of answering questions and conducting counseling appointments. Having Tom and Gay Nell Scarborough attend the conference for a day was a big help, too.
One of the couples that I counseled is involved with a Campus Crusade for Christ ministry to Muslims. Their conference was being held simultaneously in a nearby hotel. This couple and their family have come under strong spiritual attack because of their significant ministry to Iranians. One young man, “Ishmael” (not his real name) had come to the United States to study. His sister was also brought to America, but for medical treatment. She was dying of leukemia and the doctors over here explained that there was nothing that could be done for her.
Last year “Ishmael” had a dream. In it he saw the Lord though he didn’t know it was Him. “Who are you?” he asked. “I am Jesus and I am going to heal your sister,” was our Lord’s reply. Remarkably, his sister had a very similar dream shortly thereafter.
As a result of this appearance of Christ, both Ishmael and his sister have come to know the Lord and she is getting better! Even the mom (back in Iran) has trusted Christ. The father, however, is angry and hostile and wants Ishmael to come back to Iran to be thrown into prison. Please pray for this family and for the Campus Crusade for Christ couple that is ministering to Ishmael during this time of trial.
Thank you for praying for me and this trip. We hope to hear more reports in the days ahead of how Jesus set captives free in that place. As we hear, we’ll pass those reports on to you!
NEW BOOK “RESTORED” BY DR. NEIL T. ANDERSON COMING IN JANUARY
Best Selling Author Offers A Biblical Guide To Experience Life With Jesus
(Nashville, Tennessee) – December 12, 2006 – Respected author and teacher Dr. Neil T. Anderson whose previous successful books include Victory Over the Darkness, The Bondage Breaker, and The Steps to Freedom In Christ, will release nationally his new book, Restored, on January 8, 2007.
This latest work from Dr. Anderson delivers a concise Biblical guide for both new and struggling believers to enter into your God intended life, restored.
Restored examines the impact of creation and the fall of man within the framework of God’s amazing plan for redemption. Dr. Anderson offers a clear, concise, framework of each of these events built on the foundational truths of where we came from, who we are, and how much we are each loved unconditionally and personally by God! Throughout the process, you will find insight and understanding of the necessity of finding true repentance for sin and then, subsequently, your restored identity in Jesus Christ.
Groundwork for this latest book included several doctoral dissertations written on this message and method of educating believers. The American Association of Christian Counselors published two articles by Dr. Anderson last year, outlining impressive results on the evangelistic field through the teaching of the principles contained in the message of restoration, as outlined in Restored.
Noted Casey See, Vice President of e3 Resources, whose organization is partnering on a worldwide distribution of the book for evangelism outreach and discipleship: “There are many opportunities to grow in our faith, but few opportunities to resolve personal and spiritual conflicts through genuine repentance. We plan on implementing this book in our evangelistic/church planting ministry and making it available to others on a global level.”
A noted scholar and teacher, Dr. Anderson is the founder and President Emeritus of Freedom In Christ Ministries, and President of Discipleship Counseling Ministries. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University as well as Talbot School of Theology, prior to teaching for ten years at Talbot and serving as the chairman of the Practical Theology Department. He was awarded the ‘Faculty Excellence Of The Year’ award in 1992 from Biola University. Prior to being called into full-time ministry, he worked as an aerospace engineer. Dr. Anderson retired from his founding position with Freedom In Christ in 2005 to establish Discipleship Counseling Ministries. He today travels extensively, conducting conferences for Christian leaders around the world. He has authored more than 50 books.
